All Hallows: A Hub for Artistic Exploration
The curriculum at All Hallows School covers a wide range of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography/media, and construction. The school supports talented students who are preparing for potential art scholarships in senior schools, emphasizing the development of strong observational and technical skills.
Engaging with the Art Community
The location of All Hallows School offers easy access to several galleries, including Hauser and Wirth in Bruton, the Holburne Museum in Bath, the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath, and the Black Swan Gallery in Frome. Additionally, Bristol’s galleries and museums are less than an hour away. These visits, along with a broad spectrum of guest professional artists, enrich the students’ artistic experience throughout the year. Student artwork is displayed in and around All Hallows School at exhibitions throughout the academic year, as well as in local galleries.
Performing Arts
All Hallows School also provides a comprehensive performing arts program. Students are encouraged to participate in theatrical productions, giving them the opportunity to perform in front of audiences from an early age. The school’s chapel, equipped with advanced sound and lighting systems, serves as the stage for various plays and musicals. As they progress, students learn about scriptwriting, lighting, and directing, and they can join the cast or assist backstage with lighting, sound, or music.
For those who wish to advance their theatrical skills further, All Hallows School offers an additional Speech and Drama program, which prepares students for LAMDA exams and performances at the Mid-Somerset Festival in Bath.
Music Education at All Hallows School
Music education is another key component of the school’s program. Every student at All Hallows School has the opportunity to take music lessons, join a music group, take music exams, and perform in concerts. The school offers a wide variety of musical ensembles that meet weekly, catering to musicians of all levels.
Regular in-school concerts are held each term, giving every child a chance to perform. The musical groups at All Hallows School also perform outside of the school, participating in services at abbeys and churches in the Southwest and taking part in local concerts.
